Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Can I Apply for an MC/DOT Even If I Don't Have a Truck Yet?

Yes! You do not have to purchase a sprinter van or box truck in order to activate your authority. In fact, we encourage new truckers to apply for their authority first so that the MC # is aging while they shop for a van/truck. Book a phone consultation with one of our experts for more information.

  • Do I Need My Own Truck to Become a Dispatcher?

Contrary to what many believe, you DO NOT need your own truck or carrier authority to become a dispatcher. If you have a computer or laptop with stable internet connection and a cellphone then you are all set! It may also be helpful to have a United States map handy to familiarize yourself with regions of the country, if you are not already familiar. However, a map is not required. NOTE: If you are an owner-operator who intends to drive AND dispatch for themselves then you will need motor carrier authority. Please sign up for Hot Shot Experts: Opening the Door to Logistics for more information on setting up your new motor carrier authority.

  • How Much Money Do I Need to Start My Dispatching Business?

If you do not already own a computer or laptop, purchasing one will be your largest investment for your dispatching business. Don't worry, you will make the money back within your first week of dispatching!

  • Can I Dispatch My Sprinter and Box Truck Drivers by Using Free Load Boards?

When researching where to find loads, you will discover that there are many free load boards available. However, most free load boards are proprietary to carriers who have tractor-trailer equipment types (i.e. semi, 53ft dry van, etc.). While you may intermittently find sprinter and box truck loads on these boards, you will not be able to maximize your income opportunities or keep your drivers rolling consistently if you are only using free load boards. Once you have completed the course you will have all the information you need to successfully and consistently dispatch your drivers!

  • How Much Money Can I Make as a Sprinter or Box Truck Dispatcher?

Your income will vary depending on the number of drivers you dispatch and what type of equipment they have. On average you can expect to make between $1000-$3000 per month per unit. Dispatching is a great supplemental income and part-time job. If you decide to dispatch full-time, the financial opportunities are endless!!
